Description: The Senior Section of Loreto Day School, Elliot Road, organised an Annual School Concert 2024 titled ‘Beyond Pride and Prejudice’ from 21st November to 23rd November at the Junior Section Hall. The Concert was a retelling of the celebrated classic of Jane Austen. The early steps in the making of this Concert were taken in May and gruelling practice sessions started in June. Every student from Class VI through Class XII participated in this Concert making it an enriching experience in teamwork and cooperation for the student body. An all-inclusive participation was ensured by creating two sets of performers for the play. The Concert brought to light an impressive flow of talent, creativity, discipline and commitment. Students took part in acting, dancing, singing, designing, filming, choreography, props making and decoration among other things. Students tackled challenges, faced failures, took revisions and instructions and redid their work to perfection with adeptness and a sporting spirit. The sheer dedication shown by the girls has been heartwarming and has been the driving force behind the success of this Concert. On 21st November, performances were put up for Classes IV and V. Students from St. Mary’s School, Jewish Girls’ School, Loreto Convent Entally, Loreto Day School, Bowbazar and Loreto House were also in attendance. On 22nd November, the morning show was attended by Chief Guest Ms. Madhurima Vidyarthi and dignitaries from other Loreto institutions across the city, St Mary’s School and the Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre. The evening show was attended by Chief Guest Ms. Amita Prasad. On 23rd November, the morning show was attended by Chief Guest Mrs. Bharati Singh while the evening show was attended by Chief Guest Mrs. Kaveri Dutt. The Chief Guests commended the hard work of all students and harped on learning outside the classroom as the truest form of education and preparation for life. They also appreciated the attention to detail given in living true to the novel ‘Pride and Prejudice’ and the colourful performances that enthralled the audience. The students were also encouraged to never despair but with great confidence pursue their dreams and goals in life because only the sky is the limit for Loreto Girls. ‘Beyond Pride and Prejudice’ was the fruit of the collective efforts put in by all members of the Loreto Elliot Road family. It was nurtured with immense excitement, love and passion that made the Annual Concert 2024 of Loreto Day School Elliot Road a successful affair.
