Description:
On 12th December, 2024, a one-hour workshop on "Dealing with Adolescents" was conducted by Mrs. S. Saha and Ms. A. Perris. The session began with an overview of the adolescent brain, emphasizing its developmental stage, which influences emotions, decision-making, and social behaviors. Mrs. S. Saha and Ms. A. Perris highlighted several issues adolescents face today, including identity confusion, peer pressure, and the impact of technology on mental health. They also discussed the importance of 21st-century skills which are essential for adolescent development. A significant part of the workshop focused on role confusion, where adolescents often struggle with defining their identity and place in the world. The speakers provided practical strategies for parents and teachers to help adolescents navigate these challenges, including fostering open communication, providing emotional support, and creating a safe space for expression. At the conclusion of the session, Mrs. Saha and Ms. Perris presented a detailed action plan from which four key strategies were chosen by the teachers which they felt could address the unique needs of the students and promote their overall well-being.
