Description: 21st June, 2024 witnessed the first commemorative celebration of Sister Cyril at Loreto Day School Sealdah. The programme commenced at 5p.m. with a simple, meaningful and humble prayer service. The Sanskrit shloka and the serene prayer dance by the Rainbow children brought about immense peace, which enabled everyone present to reflect on Sister’s personality, her vision, her will power and her dreams. The programme was attended by the members of the Loreto Education Board, the Province Leadership Team, Principals of various Loreto schools, benefactors of the Rainbow Homes, retired Sisters and teachers, Rainbow companions and ex students who had the privilege to be a part of Sister’s noble work. The panel discussion on Sister’s achievements was the most outstanding event of the evening. As the Students from the Loreto schools of Kolkata, spoke about Sister’s success stories, we could clearly reminisce our interactions with Sister in the past. The brickfield project, the child helpline number, inclusive education, rainbow homes, barefoot teacher training programmes, value education workshops, being the most prominent among innumerable other projects. The entire programme was executed under the able guidance of Sister Priyanka Topno and the efforts of the Rainbow in charges and companions. Sister’s slogan ‘COMMUNITY VS COMPETITION’, kept reverberating in our hearts as the programme drew to a close. We at LER, would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dear principal, Mrs J. G. Surana for giving us the opportunity to participate in this memorable ceremony. Thank You Rainbow Companions Loreto Day School, Elliot Road Mrs. Andrews & Mrs. Kar
