Description:
Independence Day, observed annually on 15th August, is a National Holiday in India commemorating the nation's Independence from 15th of August 1947. The holiday is observed throughout India with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades and cultural events. Indians celebrate the day by displaying the national flag on their attire, accessories, homes and vehicles; by listening to patriotic songs, watching patriotic movies; and bonding with family and friends. Books and films feature the Independence and partition in their narrative. The day is celebrated to commemorate the birth of the world's biggest democracy as a national holiday. All the schools and colleges across nation hoist the national flag on the rooftops and the buildings to symbolize the stature of the national flag as nation's pride. Not only the educational institutions but also offices and business areas celebrate this day. On 14th August, 2014 Loreto Day School, Elliot Road, celebrated Independence day keeping in mind the motto, " The only freedom which deserves the name is that of pursuing our own good in our own way, so long as we do not attempt to derive others of theirs or impede their efforts to obtain it. " The Show started off with a prayer service, followed by a presentation which depicted the achievements of India in various fields in her 68th year of Independence.
