"WORDS AND BEYOND" - DAY 1
Description: With eager expectations the student and teacher community were waiting with bated breaths for the opening of the Literary Festival, "Words and Beyond”. Prior to the 21st November, making of the props and the cut outs, charts and posters were in full progress. The children and teachers alike gave their undivided attention to this big Middle School event. Despite back-to-back events in the school, the entire Loreto Elliot Road family continued with the same gusto. Our steadfast determination was due to Sr. Marilla's complete belief in us and the cause. The Hall, classrooms, portico were beautifully decorated. The compound had an air of excitement and colourburst. The electric atmosphere was seen to be believed. An air of fun and work surrounded all. Months of planning by the core group which consisted of the Middle School Coordinator, Ms. S. Handa, the Senior School Coordinator, Mrs. R. Sharma, the English teachers with Sr. Marilla at the helm. They were guided at supported constantly by the three pillars - Mrs. Kaveri Dutt, Mrs. Sonali Lahiri and Ms. Anjum Katyal. Day One commenced with the inspiring assembly followed by a stimulating address by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Chitrlekha Bhashkar at 8.45 am. Soon, after that, the participants of Loreto Bowbazar, Loreto Dharamtala Loreto House and Loreto Elliot Road got divided classwise into the various workshops viz, the class VII's went to the room class VIII (ii) for their workshop with Ms. Sukhtara Lal on Twisted Tales- Fairy Tales retold while class VIII's were in VI (2) room participating in Ms. Gulan Kripalani's workshop on The Media and the Message. The workshops on Film Fun conducted by Ms. Subha Das Mollick and Picture this for the class VI's by Ms Sarita Dasgupta, respectively went just as well. During break, the photo booth counter was packed. With refreshments in their hands, they made a beeline for photographs where memories were made. The last session saw the enactment of the ten minute skits prepared in less than 20 minutes, after their workshop, titled 'Twisted Tales' on stage, before the chief guest of the session, Ms. Ramanjit Kaur. The day drew to a close with the felicitation of the Chief Guest by the Principal, Sr. Marilla and the Vote of Thanks by the Middle School Coordinator, Ms. S. Handa.
