Chhayanot – The Vernacular Creative Workshop

Description: On 6th February 2025, Loreto House hosted Chhayanot, a vibrant vernacular creative workshop uniting students from six Loreto schools in Kolkata to explore storytelling and performance. The Bengali workshop focussed on detective story writing, where students, guided by Sir Mohin, learned key storytelling elements before crafting their own detective stories using assigned clues. The Hindi workshop centered around Nukkad Natak (Street Play), led by Dr. Ibrar Khan and Dr. Madhu Singh. Students practiced voice modulation, expressions and the concept of Rasa, before preparing and performing skits on socially relevant topics like water pollution and social media—all within 40 minutes. Chhayanot was a celebration of creativity, teamwork, and expression, leaving students inspired and enriched.
