• Enrolment in Loreto Elliot Road implies, on the part of the pupil and parents, a willingness to comply with the requirements and regulations of the school.
• Pupils are expected to behave in a lady-like manner on all occasions. They should address their teachers and companions with gentleness and courtesy. Refinement of manner, uprightness and self-restraint should distinguish every pupil of the school.
• Visiting clubs, restaurants, markets and theatres in school uniform is strictly forbidden.
• Girls wearing school uniforms are not to speak to boys on the street and parents are requested not to send young boys to school to collect the girls.
• Attendance is compulsory on non-teaching or activity days, like Republic Day, Teachers’ Day, Picnics, Sports Day, etc.
• Attendance is compulsory two days before the commencement of the examinations and holidays and on the first day of school after holidays. Every pupil is expected to contribute towards small school shows and local charities.
• Pupils are responsible for their own books, money, etc. and are advised to keep them in locked bags or cases. Nothing of valuable nature should be brought to school. Any wilful damage to school property will have to be replaced by the offender.
• Uniform is compulsory even on birthdays. Children are permitted to distribute only sweets to their classmates.
• Pupils are expected to walk on the left, in the corridor and stair-cases. When going from one class to another, girls should walk in a single line.
• Should a student be injured or takes ill during school hours, the school will make every effort to contact the parent first. However, in case this is not possible, the school authorities will take necessary measures as deemed fit.
• Children may be asked to stay back after school hours for an hour or so or may be asked to come in on a holiday. When this happens the students MUST comply and need to make their own alternate transport arrangement.
• All girls from Class IV and above are required to do some form of social work within and outside school hours and school days.
• No collection for any purpose whatsoever may be made without the Principal’s previous sanction and due notice to parents.
• Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, disobedience or any other poor conduct, injurious to the tone of the school, is sufficient reason for dismissal of a pupil.
• No pupil may leave the school premises without the permission of the Principal, and the required Gate Pass. Special Passes will be issued only at the written request of the parents. The observance of this regulation is of vital importance for the safety of the children and school.

• This diary is for official use only and must be reserved for notices, homework and instructions it must be brought to school each day and produced for inspection whenever required. Parents are particularly requested to sign Reports and Circulars and to attend Parent/ Teacher Meetings when required.
• Parents are informed that the diary is used to communicate with the parents and they are encouraged to do likewise. They are requested therefore to check their daughter’s diary every day.
• Parents are earnestly requested to see that their children attend school regularly. They are asked to cooperate with the work of the school by enforcing regularity and discipline and by taking a general interest in their children’s progress. If they are asked to sign their daughter’s assignment, it is expected that, they do so. They are required to have a minimum of 80% attendance in the academic year. Promotion may be denied if the attendance criteria are not met. The decision of the school authorities with regard to promotion is FINAL.
• If the Report Card is misplaced or lost, a duplicate will be issued with only marks written on the payment of Rs. 150/-.
• The teachers, whenever free are available to the students, for any clarification on any subject matter Parents or Guardians cannot meet teachers during school hours without the prior permission of the Principal or previous appointment as the member of the staff may not leave the classroom during a teaching period.
• Parents are requested to read the General Rules of Conduct and Discipline and to note the regulations regarding the payment of fees.
• Parents are also requested to notify the Principal of any change of address, landline number or mobile numbers. The parents are requested not to keep their cell phones switched off during school hours and they must save the school number on their mobile phones. This will help the school to contact the parent in case of an urgent need.
• Parents are to give their children a snack if they have to stay back after school. Buying eatables from the street vendors is forbidden, in school uniform.
• School Office Hours are from 9:00 a.m to 9:45 a.m daily. The Principal is available from 9:00a.m to 10:00a.m (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) or by prior appointment.
• Parents are requested to see that their children attend school punctually and to ensure that those who come to take the children home are here, at the hour of dismissal. The school authorities are not called for at the time of dismissal. The observance of this regulation is of vital importance for the safety of the children and for the school discipline.
• Parents are requested to leave immediately after dropping their children to school in the morning.
• Pupils whose conduct is INJURIOUS TO THE MORAL TONE of the School or fail to observe discipline are liable to be dismissed. In particular, stealing, resorting to unfair means during tests and examination, and any form of verbal, written obscenity or behavioural acts of violence may entail dismissal.
• Pupils whose presence, in the opinion of the Principal, is not BENEFICIAL, or whose application is unsatisfactory, or whose parents/ guardians show little interest in their progress, will be required to withdraw their wards from the school.
• Kindly quote the registration number of the student in all correspondence with the school.
• For any redressal you may contact the school.

• A list of holidays for the current year is printed in this diary. All are expected to attend school on the last day and the reopening day after the each vacation. Should any child be unwell and unable to attend classes on the first and / or the last day, the parents must come personally with a letter of absence and supporting documents. Parents are requested not to take their children on vacation beyond the stipulated duration.
• Pupils who have been absent from class must have the reason entered in the Regularity Record, in the diary under ‘Absence’ stating briefly the cause of the absence, signed by the parent. If a girl is absent because of illness or any other reason for more than three days the Principal has to be informed by letter and a copy of the prescription and a doctor’s certificate brought when the girl returns.
• If a child is absent for more than three months, without informing the school, her name will be struck off the roll.
• Parents are requested not to send their children for an examination when ill or recovering from illness. Parents should inform the School authorities if the child is suffering from any serious illness, chronic ailment, physical handicap or sensory defect (e.g heart disorder or epilepsy). In case of Chicken Pox. Measles, Mumps or any other such contagious diseases, the parents are advised to maintain a quarantine period of 21 days before the child is sent back to school or till a fitness certificate is given by a qualified doctor. Once the child is diagnosed with an illness for more than three days a letter requesting sanction for leave, a medical certificate and a copy of the prescription must be given in the school office. A fitness certificate must be submitted to the office when she resumes school.
• To ensure regularity, medical appointments should be made on the weekly holiday. Should this not be possible and an appointment has to be made on a school day, the pupil should remain absent for the full day, unless she takes prior permission through a letter from her parent addressed to the Principal and thereafter sanctioned by the Head of the Institution.
• In case of a long illness, the parent must personally inform the Principal about the nature and likely duration of the pupil’s illness. A covering letter, Xerox of the prescription and a medical certificate must be submitted after the diagnosis is made. On recovery a fit certificate is to be submitted If the leave is needed as in the case of a wedding, prior permission must be taken from the Principal only. In the event of a death or emergency the school must be informed at the earliest.
• No pupil may leave the school premises without the permission of the Principal. The observance of this regulation is of vital importance for the safety of the children and school discipline.
• Late arrival to school is a breach of discipline. A student who comes late to school must enter the date and time of arrival into the Regularity Record under ‘Late.’ A record will be maintained in the school diary. If a student comes in late for the 5th time, then the parents will be sent for and spoken to. Thereafter, she may be sent home if the same problem persists.
• Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, disobedience, or conduct injurious to the tone of the school, are sufficient reasons for dismissal of a student. The Principal has the right to suspend attendance or require the withdrawal of any pupil, without having to assign any reason, provided that she is satisfied that such a step is necessary in the interest of the school and the pupil concerned.
• Early Departure: It is availed only when there is an emergency at home or when a student gets sick in the school. It is not granted to those who come sick from home.
• In case a child falls sick/ meets with an accident in the school premises she can be helped with immediate first aid only. The parents will be informed and are expected to come and attend immediately. It is important to give the correct contact numbers in the diary and update it whenever there is a change.
• The school declines all responsibility if through failure to produce a letter giving reasons for her absence or delay, a girl is obliged to return home during school hours.

Laboratory

The student must accept responsibility and pay for any damage she causes to the equipments in the Laboratories. During the Practical classes all students are requested to wear overalls. A student who has no overall will not be admitted to the Laboratory.

Library

• Books from the School Library are issued regularly. No other magazines, books or papers may be circulated in the school without the permission of the Principal.
• While taking a book, if any defect is detected, it should be brought, to the notice of the teacher.
• When the students lose library books, they are asked to either replace the same or pay the price of a new book.
• Students should not borrow school library books from one another.
• Students are not allowed to keep any book borrowed from the library for longer than two weeks without permission. A late fine will be charged at the rate of Rs. 1/- per day once the due time is over.
• Before taking a new book each student should read the previous book completely.
• Ten days before the vacations and examinations all library books have to be returned.
• Before leaving the library every student must submit for scrutiny the books borrowed.
• Books borrowed from the Library must be returned directly to the Librarian. They must not be circulated. A student who circulates books borrowed from the library may have her library card withdrawn and may be fined as well.
• Any defect noticed in a book that is being borrowed, the librarian should be notified. Failure to do this checking renders one liable to be considered responsible for the defect noticed on the return of the book. Fines will be imposed on damages done to books and articles in the library.
• A remark will be entered in the library page of the School Diary for every book returned late. Three such remarks will result in the withdrawal of the lending card and a fine of Rs. 50/- may be imposed.
• During Class hours (8:00 – 2:20p.m) classes will be allowed into the library only according to the timetable published by the Principal. Permission to enter the library during these class hours must be obtained from the Principal.

• Take personal care of each child in our charge and ensure that no damage of a physical, mental or emotional nature is done.
• Prepare our work and take our classes so well that children do not need to be scolded or forced to study nor create problems of discipline in the class.
• Keep in touch with parents and ensure that the basic needs of their children are met so they can do well in school.
• Respect the integrity of each child by not talking or discussing them or their problems in the staff room.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding any information of a personal nature that we receive.
• Be available to children who need to confide in us about situations to which they have been exposed to. We must react appropriately and refer the problem to the concerned authority.
• Be clear on the measures that need to be taken, should we observe any form of abuse in the school.
