Description: Social-emotional learning is an education practice that integrates social and emotional skills into school curriculum. SEL is also referred to as "socio-emotional learning", "social and emotional learning", or "social-emotional literacy". SEL is helpful to children and adults, increasing self-awareness, academic achievement, and positive behaviours both in and out of the classroom. From an academic standpoint, students who participated in SEL programs saw an increase in their overall grades and better attendance. Junior School of LER got an opportunity to do classes where they learnt about ‘Resilience’ as part of SEL, with the school counsellor. Psychological resilience is the ability to mentally or emotionally cope with a crisis or to return to pre-crisis status quickly. Resilience exists when the person uses "mental processes and behaviours in promoting personal assets and protecting self from the potential negative effects of stressors". Learning ‘Resilience’ is the need of the hour. It was an audio-visual session and children shared their views which made the session very interactive. A small question-answer session was done towards the end of the class to see whether the girls have grasped the concept properly or not.
