Description: As a student from Travel and Tourism team of class VII, l was honoured to attend Mr. Srikanta Bose's session on 20th April in school, who is a globe trotter, who went for a World Tour for two years at the age of 23 and covered 72 countries on his bicycle. I was blessed to have heard him in how he faced ground realities with his chin up to overcome challenges and dangers at difficult times. He agrees with the phrase ' If there's a wall, there's a way.' He said many of his experience were rather adventurous. He showed us the pictures of his world tour which were just unbelievable. All of his stories, like where he had to spent a night in a police custody in Barcelona, Spain or the story of hundred years of football ceremony in France where he was honoured to inaugurate the ceremony by cutting the ribbon with the King of Football Michel Platini or the story where he was made the peace ambassador of UNESCO for 2 years; the story of a family in Serbia where he received a Jesus Christ locket which was given to him by a man who received that locket from the hands of the Pope John Paul II in the Vatican City and so on enthralled us. These stories were very interesting as there were many aspects with which we could relate to as we had heard thise terms kn our vicational education classes. He narrated to us how he struggled with problems such as visa, airline tickets, food, shelter and unconditional weather. But nothing deterred him and he was totally and pisitively focussed on the trip titled ' NO WAR; ONLY PEACE'. This Inspirational speech helped me and the others to understand the adage ' Never give up' and we realised that motivating one self minds to face challenges is the surest one to overcome hurdles. With his examples, we also understood how alertness, presence of mind and application of intelligence can solve the blockages. that come our way. I am thankful to Mr Bose that he with his personal experiences taught us that resolving issues can be a subtle approach in life and to never compare ones own situation with others as each case is diffrrent .Thus, lessons in life which demonstrated life skills will surely help us in our future. For me, I was pleasantly intrigued when I heard that he had stayed at the author Dominic Lapierre 's house for 5 long days .His anecdotes on meeting the Taliban or how he was denied a Visa to Pakistan made us feel that a celluloid was being panned out before us. We were engrossed hearing him speak with so much conviction and energy. Lastly, I thank our Travel and tourism teachers for arranging such a lively and interactive session on our bagless day. Abigail thankyoh to our school Principal for giving us an opportunity to hear a resource person speak live before us. Report written by - BRISTI BOSE Class VII
