Description: RISE FOR FREEDOM (One Billion Rising) On 14th February 2025, ONE BILLION RISING was celebrated at the Senior Section compound of Loreto Day School, Elliot Road, by students of Classes IX and XI. ONE BILLION RISING is a global movement that aims to end violence against women and girls. It was started in 2012 as a part of V-day movement. The 2025 theme for OBR is 'Rise for Freedom'. The theme focuses on creative resistance against oppression while emphasising upon the importance of community, inclusion, care and love over division and violence. The programme featured a song and a dance to raise awareness and inspire change. Students of Classes IX and XI performed the OBR dance as a symbol of unity and empowerment. The song 'Titanium' was sung at the morning assembly inspiring hope and creating a sense of urgency to stand strong and fight for change. The event left a deep impact on the audience. The ONE BILLION RISING programme was a powerful reminder that change begins with collective action. It united people in a shared mission to end gender-based violence and uplift survivors. By standing together, speaking up and taking action, we can truly make a difference.
