Description:
The Assembly titled 'Orange the World' was based on the topic "Violence against women”. The programme consisted of a Prayer Service, a dance, a skit, a few videos highlighting the theme of the day and song to end the event. The event commenced with a prayer for the Victims of Violence; for their equality and rights. The girls of class 12 then recited "Breaking Out" a powerful poem by Marge Piercy about a women's liberation. A few skits depicting women's struggles against patriarchal society and measures to overcome this harsh reality were enacted and these were followed by two inspirational songs. The Assembly ended with the clear message that they must stand tall in society and make a mark. Our gratitude goes to our Principal, Sr.Marilla D’Souza for electing us to the not only look at the issue of gender based violence but ways to combat this reality in a positive manner. Lastly she encouraged us to build a positive image of ourselves and thank God for making us….. GIRL.
